Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) is essential for Nepal's economic growth and social development. Yet, the quality of TVET depends fundamentally on the quality of its teachers and leaders. Many vocational educators in Nepal enter the classroom with strong technical skills but limited pedagogical training. Existing teacher preparation programs are often theoretical, decontextualized, and inaccessible to educators in remote areas.
HEVEN was designed to address this gap. By strengthening the capacity of TVET teachers, teacher educators, and education managers, HEVEN aims to create a sustainable, high-quality TVET system that prepares students for meaningful employment and lifelong learning.
The HEVEN project helps Nepal improve technical and vocational education by focusing on the people who teach and lead it. The project supports vocational teachers, teacher educators, and education managers so they can teach better, use modern methods, and prepare students for real jobs. HEVEN is led by Nepali universities – Tribhuvan University (Coordinator), Kathmandu University, and Nepal Open University – and supported by European partners from Finland (Jamk University of Applied Sciences) and the Netherlands (Saxion University of Applied Sciences).
